Approach to Sustainability
Environmental Subcommittee
The Environmental Subcommittee implements initiatives to ensure legal compliance with environmental laws and regulations, including the Energy Conservation Act, reduce emissions of environmentally hazardous substances, and survey the activities of other companies in the industry.
In FY2025.6, to reduce environmental impact, we monitored Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions at each site and started working on reduction measures. Specifically, by checking electricity usage at each site, we analyzed the factors behind increased consumption at certain sites, identified facilities with high emissions, looked into alternative equipment, and also considered the introduction of electricity generated from renewable energy sources and the purchase of non-fossil fuel certificates.
The "Eco-Life Promotion Team," an internal body encouraging each employee to be more aware of environmental issues in their daily life, has created its own logo and promoted various initiatives.
In FY2025.6, we conducted a survey to encourage participation from all employees and carried out awareness activities by sharing the initiatives and their results company-wide through posters and our in-house newsletter.
Specific "Eco-Life Promotion Team" initiatives include:
- ・ Partially discontinuing paper towels
- ・ Turning off some lights during lunch breaks
- ・ Donating books
- ・ Encouraging the reuse of stationery within the company
- ・ Promoting the use of personal bottles and cups
- ・ Collecting and recycling plastic bottle caps and folders
- ・ Providing loaner umbrellas
- ・ Participating in Earth Hour
- ・ Adjusting refrigerator temperature settings
- ・ Encouraging proper air conditioner temperature settings
We will continue working on reducing GHG emissions while discussing and reviewing targets.
TCFD Subcommittee (TCFD=Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures)
The TCFD subcommittee conducts various surveys and studies to develop management strategies using TCFD framework and works to put the action plans into practice aimed at improving corporate value.
Work Style Reform Subcommittee
The Work Style Reform Subcommittee promotes measures for employees to improve productivity and create innovation, aiming at realizing a sustainable society and improving corporate value. Specifically, we are creating a workplace environment that helps employees to keep a healthy balance of childcare and nursing care with their work while also pursuing their growth.
In FY2025.6, the employee-led sub-committees established at each group company as a secondary group of the Work Style Reform Subcommittee took the lead in carrying out activities that closely aligned with the needs of employees at each workplace.
In our engagement survey, now in its fifth year, we added new questions to gain a deeper understanding of the core issues so that we can identify which measures are effective and should be prioritized. We also included new questions related to employee well-being. Based on these survey results, we will work together to implement improvement measures, helping to create a more comfortable working environment and supporting the overall growth of the organization.
Workplace Environment
We provide a comfortable workplace environment by enhancing our hiring, training and evaluation systems that respect the diversity and flexibly adjusting our work systems, with the aim of the realization of workplace diversity.
In FY2025.6, in addition to our buddy teams and communication meetings, we promoted mutual understanding and relationship building among employees through initiatives such as the introduction of profile sheets, tool usage presentations by junior employees, and volunteer-led events. We also steadily implemented initiatives to create a better workplace environment throughout the company, including enhancing employee benefits by introducing a service that allows employees to easily purchase meals and snacks in the office.
By continuously adapting to internal and external changes, we will keep working on creating an environment where employees can work with peace of mind.
Employee Growth
We aim to develop human resources that respect diversity while supporting each employee's autonomous career development. We are promoting employees' growth based on the concept of "being capable to learn, think, use imagination, and overcome obstacles on one's own," which reflects our approach emphasizing not only knowledge but also action.
In FY2025.6, we expanded the scope of our communication training to include future managers and held sessions led by external instructor. In sub-committees, we have focused on proactive training programs based on the engagement survey results and evaluated their effectiveness. We also conducted an internal survey on training and study sessions, and based on the requests, study sessions previously held independently by each department were opened to other departments.
Moving forward, we aim to establish a human resource development program through collaboration between the HR department and these sub-committees.
SSCM Subcommittee (SSCM = Sustainability Supply Chain Management)
Recognizing that collaboration throughout the supply chain is an essential part to practice environmental conservation and proper and fair trade, the SSCM Subcommittee regularly conducts a questionnaire survey of suppliers in accordance with the Sustainable Procurement Policy. The questionnaire covers the topics such as compliance, quality, fair and equitable trade, environment, human rights, and information management.
We provide feedback on the survey results to individual suppliers and will continue to work with them and engage in sustainable supply chain management.
Social Contribution Activities
We are supporting our society through the donations to AfriMedico, Central Community Chest of Japan, Japanese Red Cross Society, and Japan Committee for UNICEF.
